The Carnac Group team in Brisbane have taken to the water as part of our commitment to the Pledge 1% initiative.

Each year Carnac Group commits 1% of our time, product or profit to Pledge 1%, a worldwide initiative inspiring businesses to make a change in their local area. As a business, we are passionate about the environment, and keeping the beautiful cities we call home clean. So, we’re very proud to have seen some of our Brisbane employees getting involved in the pledge by cleaning-up on the Gold Coast Seaway!

Mickael and Alex spent the day in SCUBA gear swimming the whole length of the seawall collecting discarded fishing lines, hooks and leads. The area is home to an abundance of marine life, particularly sea turtles looking for somewhere to rest, so it means a lot to the team to try and protect them.

Although fishing line may appear to be small, did you know it can take over 600 years to decompose? Sadly, over 100,000 marine animals die every year from ingesting or getting tangled in fishing lines.

Alex and Mickael managed to remove an entire bag full of old fishing equipment from the ocean. While sea pollution is still a devastating problem, every little bit counts, and we are proud to see our Brisbane team making a difference where they can. They were also lucky enough to pick a beautiful Queensland day to hit the water!
