Ever heard of the ‘Pledge 1%’ global initiative? If you haven’t, you should learn about it! Pledge 1% aims to encourage businesses to integrate the notion of ‘giving back’ into their DNA, regardless of their size or industry.
Our Brisbane team did their 1% by rolling up their sleeves and heading to the RSPCA at Wacol, to help disadvantaged and injured animals. They were lucky enough to interact with animals from all walks of life, from elderly dogs to koalas and even snakes.
Not only were they able to learn more about the wellbeing of these animals, they did working bee style activities to help the staff and volunteers at RSPCA. Some of the jobs they were given included cleaning out cages for over 150 guinea pigs, bathing animals, making dog treats and helping out in both the domestic and wildlife hospitals.
While it was a unique and rewarding experience, it was also great for team building. The best part? Seeing how happy the animals were despite the challenges they’ve been through and (of course) the cuddles!
Overall, the team found the experience extremely rewarding and educational. They said “Being able to see how well the animals are looked after was very reassuring. The team at the RSPCA do an amazing job but they need extra hands to help with those endless day-to-day jobs that keep the facility running.”
A massive thank you to the team at the Wacol RSPCA for allowing Carnac Group to be a part of your mission! Keep your eyes peeled to see what the Sydney and Melbourne team do this year.
What is Pledge 1%?
Essentially, it’s about businesses pledging 1% of their employee’s time, equity, product or profit to a good cause – because pledging a small portion of future success today can have a huge impact tomorrow.
This initiative is spearheaded by Salesforce. As a Salesforce partner, we were naturally keen to get involved! Carnac Group joined the pledge back in 2019, inviting employees from across Australia to join in. Each year, our Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane offices have the freedom to contribute to the causes or projects that matter most to them.
Now, the question is – will you pledge 1%? If you’re thinking about incorporating giving back into your company culture, you can join the movement today at www.pledge1percent.org.
